Sissy..... about 1959

An ancient bag of bones from the knackery... but what fun!  My brother and a mate rode their pushbikes to the knackery about 12km away, bought this old girl with his and my savings and led her all the way home.  Parents furious..... but softies..... Sissy stayed, of course, until old age took her many years later.

Danny..... about 1963

Danny joined the family in about 1963.  Sissy was purely a bareback pony and kicked any horse silly enough to come too close.  Pony Club had started up about 5km away and of course I wanted to go.

Danny was a wonderful pony.  He could do anything.  His only limitation alas was his rider.  My father called him 'Chunky'... for obvious reasons.  Danny died in 1976.

2003 - 2005

Jazzy flopped down on my lap the first time I met him...  it was love at first sight.  He was such a darling boy and still only a baby when I bought him home.  Of course I had to take his little mate Nicky as well just to keep him company.  Nicky is still here, but alas Jazzy is not.  Jazzy and Nicky are pictured on the Home Page on the day they arrived.  They were always together.

1983 - 2003

The beautiful Shah heralded my return to horses in 1996.  Part Arabian, super super sensitive, frightened of everything and not really a wise choice for a woman of mature years.  He was exhausting and exciting to ride, yet always so sweet and gentle on the ground and the most gloriously beautiful horse in the agistment paddock.

I adored him... despite the broken leg and later broken wrist... but that's what happens when you ride a round, sleek, shiny nutcase bareback in the wind at dusk...

Died 16th March 2004

Ralphie was about 5 years old when he came to me in November 1993.  I was his third 'owner'.  He had never been an inside dog and it took him about 10 seconds to get the hang of that.  Soon after he was diagnosed with Heartworm.  Two awful injections of a brand new treatment fixed him up and he went on to live a long, happy and very comfortable life.

I called him 'my little love machine', 'my kiss and cuddle dog'.  I adored him.

Ralphie changed my life.
